FANTASY MLS FOR XI: ALWAYS LEAVE YOURSELF AN OUT

Greetings, fellow Fantasy MLS managers! Last week was pretty crazy, huh? My team made three auto-subs, and two of them I wasn’t even expecting to happen. There were a lot of unexpected absences… but hey, that’s part of the fun, right? Wise words from Matt Damon to live by: “Always leave yourself an out.”

The lineups for this week lock on Friday at 6:00PM Central, so get your transfers in quick! If you haven’t created a team yet, there’s still time – visit http://fantasy.mlssoccer.com to get started. MLS is offering a game for late starters this week with a $100 prize, so it’s not too late to get in on the action!

And now… the questions:

@Hcsued: who starts at LB for Dallas? And how long before Watson is challenging Harris for the RB start?

This week, I think Harris will still be back there, but it’s only a matter of time before Je-Vaughn Watson takes his spot, from what I’ve heard.

@Hcsued:  who’s going to be back from international duty and play this weekend?

Pretty much everyone should be back and available for their squads this weekend. The notable exception is Dempsey, who picked up an injury during the training camp.

@csnewman: Shipp, Arnaud, Trapp? In which order?

That’s the correct order. I like Chicago’s matchup at home against Toronto, and Arnaud’s been pretty consistent.

@SillyBolivian: is villa still out? And for how long?

I haven’t heard any word yet, but if news breaks for NYCFC, you’ll likely hear about it first from @EmpireOfSoccer, so give him a follow!

@_zak__: do you think that Dom Dwyer could be a good start at home, against philly?

I think this is the week Dom finally gets off the schneid and scores. If he doesn’t this week, drop him.

@McIntoshRosco: Now we are coming into Week 5, is there a core 3 must have players that you cant do without?

My answer from last week is still on track, with a couple of minor changes:

For these next two weeks, all Vancouver: Rivero, Morales, and Beitashour or Waston

Overall: Martins, Javier Morales, and either Opara or any regular starter on LA, Seattle, or FC Dallas’s back line

@big_tx_morales: aside from neglecting my line-up for Rd 4 (no joke) is it time to give up on Nguyen?

For that price, yes. If you need someone big to spend on, look at Pedro Morales, Javier Morales, or even Kaká.

@Will_Weinstock: best replacements for David Villa and Lloyd Sam this week?! Altidore, Adi, Feihaber, Nagbe, Castillo?

I’d steer clear of Toronto since they have a bye in Round 6. Nagbe and Castillo are good options, but if you don’t have Pedro Morales or Octavio Rivero, they’d be my top choices.

@Vamos_DCU: off the top of your head do you think Ramos is playing this week?

I haven’t seen any indication one way or the other, but you should definitely give @PaulTenorio a follow – he’s the reporter for the Orlando Sentinel covering OCSC.

@Vamos_DCU: Should I spend big money on Opara as a beast defender or 5.1 on Opare who will is cheap and will be starting for awhile #MLSFantasy

Both teams have a good set of fixtures for the next two weeks. I’m struggling with that same question, myself, but I may splurge and pay out the money for Opara. He’s on fire right now.

If you come up with more questions, feel free to tweet them over to me: @travi_the_rabbi. Best of luck to everyone as you make your final tweaks to your rosters!
