MLS season prediction

Seattle Sounders captured their first MLS Cup title last season and they are now on a quest to defend their trophy. However, the likes of Toronto and Chicago Fire have been producing terrific displays at the start of the season and they are definitely capable of winning the silverware.

The likes of Robbie Keane, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Steven Gerard are no longer playing in Major League Soccer. New names have joined the league, but there are still a number of European superstars in MLS.

New York City

FootballPredictions.com is doing predictions and analysis on all MLS matches, according to them, New York City did well to make it to the play-offs last season, but Toronto proved to be a big catch for the Pigeons in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. Patrick Vieira’s men have big ambitions for the 2017 MLS campaign and they made a promising start of the season. However, the bad news for the fans is that Italian ace Andrea Pirlo has lost his place in the starting line-up due to poor performances. The former Juventus midfielder has been struggling with injury as well, but fellow superstar David Villa has been scoring goals for fun at the start of the season. New York City’s main goal is to secure a top-two finish and they are definitely capable of meeting the goal.

Toronto

Toronto were more than unfortunate not to win the 2016 MLS Cup, with the team losing to Seattle Sounders on penalties in the title game. The Reds are determined to regain the trophy and they made a flying start to the season. The Canadian outfit sit in top position in the Eastern Conference standings and attacking duo Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore have already scored 12 goals between each other. Experienced midfielder Michael Bradley is undisputedly playing a very important role in Greg Vanney’s team and, taking everything into account, it is no surprise Toronto are regarded as main favourites to win the 2017 MLS Cup trophy. The Reds just need to keep on improving their game and they will certainly have a good chance of winning the title.

Seattle Sounders

Speaking of the Western Conference, title holders Seattle Sounders have been playing below expectations at the start of the season. USA star Clint Dempsey has been struggling to find his best form, but back-to-back victories over the likes of Real Salt Lake and Portland Timbers surely helped the team regain a much-needed confidence. The season is quite long and the Sounders should not be written off just yet. The reigning champions just need to get back on course and to book their place in the Western Conference play-offs as they are capable of making life difficult for each and every team in the league.

Chicago Fire

Chicago Fire made a slow start to the season, but the team have been making progress week by week and they look unstoppable at the moment. Coach Veljko Paunovic, who won the U20 FIFA World Cup with Serbia is doing an amazing job with the Toyota Park outfit, but many football predictions suggest that his team are going to suffer a dip in form. Anyhow, Chicago Fire have already proved their worth in the Major League Soccer and they are definitely capable of finishing the season in top two in the Eastern Conference.

Taking everything into account, Toronto are the team to watch in the 2017 MLS campaign and FootballPredictions.com predicts that the last season’s runners up are going to regain the trophy as they seem to be one level above fellow title contenders.
