Red Hot FC Dallas Faces off with RSL in West Showdown

FC Dallas will travel to Rio Tinto stadium this weekend to face off against Real Salt Lake in a rematch of last year’s Western Conference semifinals. Real Salt Lake is coming off a wild 3-3 draw to the New England Revolution, who are now in the middle of a 5 game unbeaten streak. FC Dallas is coming off a 2-0 win at home to against the Columbus Crew.

FC Dallas will take on RSL

With the Fabian Castillo in Columbia on National team duty Schellas Hyndman has switched to the 4-2-3-1 for the past few games, with Marvin Chavez being the lone striker up top.  This obviously has been working because FC Dallas is currently on a 3 game winning streak. But going over their past 2 games the 4-2-3-1 formation doesn’t appear to favor FC Dallas in the final third of the field.  They do not complete as many passes in the middle of the field when in the final third going with the 4-2-3-1.

Some notable absences for FC Dallas this week are Fabian Castillo who is on national team duty. Also David Ferreira is still out due to his ankle injury in April and Maykel Galindo will be out with a hamstring injury.

The last time these two teams met they had a 2 hour delay due to weather and they played to a 0-0 draw. It should also be noted that the road team hasn’t won in this series since June 2007. Let’s hope FC Dallas can break that streak and extend their winning streak to 4 game.
