FC Dallas and DC United Play to Scoreless Draw

It was a hot 100 degree night at Pizza Hut Park Saturday night as FC Dallas hoped to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Real Salt Lake. They faced a revamped D.C. United offense who were coming off a 1-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls.

There was not a lot going on in the first half of this game. D.C. United appeared to be compacting the midfield and this gave the FC Dallas midfielders issues with connecting their passes. There was only a total of 3 shots on goal the entire first half. The best opportunity came from D.C. United when Andy Najar’s shot on goal from about 10 yards out that forced a diving save from Kevin Hartman.

There were no changes made to either team to start the second half but FC Dallas seemed to be more active in the second half. The best opportunity of the second half came in the 87th minute when a Jackson volley ricocheted off the crossbar.

It was a game of missed opportunities for FC Dallas, they couldn’t connect well in the midfield and they looked lost at times in the final third of the field. In the end, 1 point is better than 0 points.

They will need to put this game behind them quickly, because they will head to Toronto this Wednesday in a mid-week matchup against Toronto FC.
