Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez has not spoken with David Beckham and his group looking to bring MLS to Miami since they last met a month and a half ago, according to an interview with the South Florida Business Journal.
According to the interview, Beckham and his team had stadium renderings at the meeting but the mayor declined to disclose where the possible stadium location would be.
Mayor Gimenez also mentioned that the last he spoke with Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure, he was “talking about his company, not his stadium.”
Beckham and MLS held a press conference in February of 2014 to announce the desire to put a franchise in Miami. The franchise is contingent on a stadium deal being finalized and there has been no news on a possible deal in the 17 months since.
