FANTASY MLS FOR XI: THE MEANING OF FANTASY

There was definitely a good variety of questions this week, ranging from H2H strategy to the true meaning of fantasy. All your questions shall be answered, my friends… let’s get right down to it!

@travi_the_rabbi @TotalMLS time to panic on mauro diaz?

— Cody Weber (@Codydejavu) March 17, 2015

It’s definitely time to start worrying. I’m going to keep him around for one more week, but that’s because I have two more important transfers I’d rather make.

@travi_the_rabbi @TotalMLS captain Fabian Castillo or Villa?

— Curtis Marley (@curtism24) March 17, 2015

I’d go with David Villa. I think he’s going to put one by Colorado this weekend.

@travi_the_rabbi what is the meaning of fantasy?

— Aaron (@HopsandSoccer) March 17, 2015

I think the true meaning of fantasy comes from a story about this guy named Dumbledore Calrissian who needs to return the ring back to Mordor. Fun fact: it’s practically a shot-for-shot remake of “Battlestar Galactica”.

@travi_the_rabbi @TotalMLS Would like to see MLS season schedule, delineating Home v. Away; Double/Bye Weeks; and FIFA Breaks. #MLSFantasy

That’s not really a question, but… my bud @MLSFantasyBoss has already made a handy color-coded guide to the weekly schedules, and you can find it here: http://mlsfantasyboss.com/fantasy-mls-resources/#NGDGW

@travi_the_rabbi @TotalMLS assuming Chaco’s injury is verified, is El Colorado a good pickup?

— Justin (@BuckmanUnited) March 17, 2015

I’m not sure what Philly has to do with Colorado this week, but I’m not putting any serious money into the Rapids until they can prove they deserve it.

@travi_the_rabbi @TotalMLS Keane at home or Villa at altitude? Yes, I have both.

— Justin (@BuckmanUnited) March 17, 2015

Between those two, I’d pick Keane. LA Galaxy at home… end of story.

@travi_the_rabbi #MLSFantasy What’s the best possible strategy to win a H2H matchup?

— Justin Jerkins (@HueyBosco) March 17, 2015

I’d definitely suggest spending as many -4 hits as necessary to field this lineup*. You can’t go wrong:

Clark; Grana, Pogatetz, Francis; Mulholland, J. Morales, Dempsey, Neagle, Bradley; Martins, Altidore

In all seriousness, in a salary-cap format, there’s not a ton of H2H strategy, aside from keeping away from the -4 transfer hits as much as possible, since those affect your H2H score. I try not to let other players’ rosters affect my transfer decisions. I want to play the best 11 players every round, regardless of whether they’re widely-owned or differentials.

*(This advice only applies to Mr. Jerkins. He’s my H2H opponent this week.)
