Welcome to week 16 action of the Major League Soccer season. Do you remember last week when I said with such an abbreviated schedule that may be the only week possible to score a perfect 100% on my weekly predictions? Well, I struck out big time going 2 for 5. Registering a .400% batting average is still hall of fame worthy so I take solace in that.
FC Dallas @ Colorado – Colorado WINS
San Jose @ Seattle – SJ WINS
Vancouver @ NYRB – TIE
NYCFC @ TFC – TIE
Orlando @ Montreal – Orlando WINS
Houston @ Portland – TIE
Philadelphia @ LAG – LAG WINS
New England @ DCU – DCU WINS
SKC @ RSL – SKC WINS
What 2 Watch 4
How will the Seattle Sounders bounce back after such a rough and tumble US Open Cup loss against the Timbers earlier this week? Team captain, Clint Dempsey, was suspended 3 matches after his actions during the match. Can the Sounders respond positively? We shall see.
Two teams in the midst of a rough patch will meet in Harrison, New Jersey, as the Red Bulls battle the Whitecaps. Personally, these are two of my favorite teams to watch. Both have the ability to play top notch, entertaining soccer but each have struggled to find consistency this season. Can the Whitecaps win 3,000 miles from home? Will the Red Bulls find their groove at Red Bull Arena?
New England and DC are two original MLS clubs with battles that span back two decades. United lead the all-time series with 29 victories, versus the Revolutions 26, while the teams have combined for 10 draws. New England will be without Jermaine Jones who is out with a hernia injury. DC will look to continue their winning ways at home on national television. Broadcast is on ESPN2, Sunday at 5:00 PM ET.
Fantasy Lineup
Lastly, as usual, below is my fantasy lineup for week 16. What do you think of the lineup? How is your fantasy squad doing? Good luck to all!
