Rapids Face Dynamo in Mid-Week Clash

This week the Rapids face the Dynamo at 8:30 PM MT on Houston’s home turf. Colorado is kicking off its first of three tough away games. Both had impressive highlights last game, with Houston’s Will Bruin blasting in a hat trick to lift them above DCU and Colorado’s Andre Akpan nabbing a goal of the week nomination with his goal to end the 3 game losing streak (and scoring drought in a draw with the Fire.

Andre Akpan

Colorado, while having depth in the striker position, was hoping to see Conor Casey back to pair with Omar Cummings, but may be held out until the weekend game. Sanna Nyassi, who filled in for the supsended Brian Mullan in the midfield, had a good game against the Fire last week, and is expected to start. Also back from injury is Caleb Folan, who the Rapids acquired from Hull City FC in England right before the season. While Folan is available, it’s hard to say who will start since coach Gary Smith seems to be experimenting up top since Casey’s injury.

Houston is gelling well, with help from its vets, and now the much feared Bruin. The Rapids need to solidify the midfield and defense, while getting its strikers firing on all cylinders to overcome Houston and its long unbeaten streak.
