FC Dallas (3-3-1) is coming off a wild 2-1 win at home against the LA Galaxy. This was a good performance for FC Dallas. Not only did they play for the first time without their MVP David Ferreira, they battled adverse weather conditions and then dealt with a 1 hour rain delay. A win like this will hopefully give confidence to FC Dallas going forward.
This week FC Dallas will travel to the nation’s capital to play D.C. United (3-4-1). The key this week for FC Dallas will be the forward position, mainly Fabian Castillo who netted his first MLS goal last week against LA. Castillo will be playing against a piecemeal backline in D.C. United. Castillo along with Shea and Chavez should look to take advantage with their speed along the outside against a young D.C. United backline.
Another player to watch for FC Dallas is Eric Avila, Schellas Hyndman has opted to go with Avila as Ferreira’s replacement in the mid-field, and while I do not disagree with this move Hyndman will need to find a way to get more production out of Avila in the next few months. Avila will need to be the one to push the offense forward and get FC Dallas going on the counter. I think Avila just needs a little more confidence in himself and his capabilities to fully grow in the starting mid-fielder
role.
FC Dallas have won 2 out of their last 3 games and look for their 3rd win in a row this weekend against D.C. United. After getting off to a slow start this season hopefully FC Dallas can keep this bit of momentum going, and get back to their winning ways of last year.
