George John Move to Blackburn Called Off

FC Dallas defender George John’s move to English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers has apparently been called off. FC Dallas announced this on Sunday.

Despite mutual interest, Blackburn Rovers and George John have decided not to enter into a contract,” FC Dallas president and CEO Doug Quinn said in a statement.

This comes as a surprise because the deal with Blackburn seemed all but done. John even traveled to Europe last week to complete citizenship paperwork and to work out any details of the deal.

FC Dallas has been trying to re-sign John for the past year and it may be that John no longer wants to be in a FC Dallas uniform, so it will be interesting to see how this will play out in the next few weeks.

John will be available for FC Dallas when they travel to Seattle on Tuesday for the US Open Cup semifinal.
