Galaxy Host Whitecaps in Pivotal Match

The Los Angeles Galaxy are currently on a 3 match winning streak. They’ve won all 3 matches at Home Depot Center; 5-2 against Isidro Metapan, 2-0 against FC Dallas, and 4-0 against Puerto Rico Islanders. Next up for LA are the Vancouver Whitecaps.

David Beckham

Most of LA’s starters were rested on Wednesday against Puerto Rico in Champions League play so expect to see them start on Saturday against the Whitecaps. Whether David Beckham and Landon Donovan will play, that hasn’t been announced. We will have to wait until later today to find out.

The last time LA and the Whitecaps played, Jose Villarreal scored a golazo (which won MLS Goal of the Week) and helped LA secure a 2-2 draw. In that game the Vancouver Whitecaps quickly scored two goals in the first half. It looked like LA Galaxy didn’t have any answers for them. With ten minutes to go, LA fans started to get worried. Vancouver was still winning 2-0 and LA was running out of time. In the 81st minute, Beckham cut Vancouver’s lead in half. A few minutes later, Villarreal scored LA’s second goal and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

While LA has been playing well in MLS and CCL the Whitecaps have lost their last 3 matches; 2-1 against Portland, 2-0 to Seattle, and 2-0 to Dallas. This isn’t good for LA. The Whitecaps will be looking to break their losing streak and what a better game than against the current MLS champions? Vancouver will be a dangerous opponent for LA. Despite this, I still believe LA will come out victorious, winning 2-1.
