Next up for Los Angeles Galaxy is Toronto FC at the Home Depot Center. This is the 3rd time LA and TFC will meet this season, but the first time they will meet in MLS play. The other two times they played each other in CONCACAF Champions League. Their first match ended in a 2-2 draw. However, when they came back to HDC, LA lost 2-1 to TFC. With this loss, they were knocked out of the Champions League.
LA has been playing better. With all their defenders available and their newest signing, LA has a much better chance of winning this time around. They most likely won’t have David Beckham, but they should be alright because the team has been doing well lately. Losing one midfielder won’t hurt them.
TFC hasn’t been playing well, not just recently, but all season long. They’ve lost 2 of their last 3 matches and drew the other one. They are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference table and have less points that any other team in MLS (this includes both conferences). At the moment, they have 22 points out of 29 games.
However, just because they have a horrible record in MLS, doesn’t mean this match will be easy for LA. TFC has already been eliminated from MLS Cup playoffs, so there is less pressure on them. This kind of opponent can be very dangerous for LA because LA Galaxy is still trying to get as many points as possible and wants to get to the number 2 spot in the Western Conference table. Not only that but they will be playing in front of their home fans, where there is always more pressure for them. One TFC player that LA needs to be on the look out for is Eric Hassli. He’s known for scoring from distance and is a tough player to defend against. My prediction for this match is a 2-0 win for LA.
