LA Galaxy August Recap

So it’s been a while, Galaxy fans. I’m not talking about the 11 day break we’ve have since the Galaxy last took the field. It’s been a trippy sort of month from me and for that, I’m sorry. Sometimes life crashes (literally) into plans and even my love for all things Galaxy has to take a backseat. I will promise to be there for the playoff push and beyond…or die trying! (crosses fingers)

LA Galaxy

Top of the Table, Top of the League, Top of the Group – After having their league streak snapped by Portland on the 3rd in what was probably their worst game all season, The Galaxy have gotten back to winning ways. They’re currently on a 4-game winning streak across CCL and MLS, scoring at least 2 goals in every game within that span. The league-leading Galaxy sit 3 points in front of Seattle and 5 points ahead of vanquished Dallas (one of those 4 wins, a 3-1 victory at home) with a game in hand on both and can clinch a playoff spot against Sporting Kansas City on Labor Day.

The Goal-dock Saint – One of the Galaxy’s 10 goals over the last 4 games belongs to new signing Robbie Keane. A last-minute addition to the squad, Robbie Keane (and his uber-hot wife) takes the place of under-performing Juan Pablo Angel. JPA joined Chivas USA with the Galaxy reportedly paying the majority of the wages. Hopefully Irish eyes smile on the Galaxy and it’s been no surprise that attacking prowess has been lacking at times this season.

I Don’t Need No Doctor (because I got a little help from my friends…)– Injuries have racked up across the last couple of months and August was no exception. Chad Barrett, Omar Gonzalez, Landon Donovan, David Beckham, and Jovan Kirovski have all serves time on the Injury Report throughout the month of August. The Galaxy depth has been stellar with Sean Franklin spending time in midfield and Frankie Hejduk still showing life in defense. With Gregg Berhalter now out with what’s being called a mid-foot sprain, the defense will be called upon again to keep a tight line and help continue the Galaxy’s stellar run.

Keep it here, Recap of SKC/LA due this weekend! May the power of Magee be with you!
