Saunders Out Indefinitely, Will Enter MLS Substance Abuse Program

Josh Saunders has checked into the MLS substance abuse program, following his absence from Saturday’s game against FC Dallas, According to the LA Times’ Kevin Baxter, the Galaxy FO was notified on Friday that Saunders would be unavailable to play until he completes the program.

This will make former PR Islander GK Bill Gaudette the de-facto number 1 and Brian Perk, who just came back from sports hernia surgery, number two on the depth chart until Saunders is finished with the program. There has been no word from the league office or the LA Galaxy concerning Saunders’ absence.

I wish nothing but the best and a speedy recovery for Saunders, regardless of what’s going on beyond the field. His health and well-being is more important than wins and losses. See ya, Colonel and get well soon.
