The Jacksonville Armada preseason so far has been successful. They have played against the Charleston Battery twice, both times losing. They also faced the Philadelphia Union of MLS, they came out on top in that match. The Armada have also faced off against in state rivals the Strikers and won 1-0.
Results are not always important during these matches, the coaching staff just wants to see the progress the players and the team is making.
During the preseason the Armada have stuck with the 4-4-3 , which is a formation we haven’t seen in the league before. If you think about this formation it is a very good one because it is an aggressive one. Also you can adjust depending on the score.
Let’s start off with the 3 attacking players, they have speed, and are quality players. Jemal Johnson, former New York Cosmos player, the talented Marcos Flores, and the speedster Alhassane Keita. Those players up front will challenge any defense in the league. The Armada’s midfield is very strong. Marcos Flores could also drop back and play in the midfield or as a striker. He is a dynamic player and could be used in multiple positions.
The back four always has to be strong and during this preseason they have been just that. They haven’t given up a lot of goals. What is great about this formation is that when the Armada is leading the defense could just drop back and defend. We can’t forget the goalkeeper, Miguel Gallardo, who was the club’s first signing. So far in preseason he showed his talent and it is going to be hard for the other NASL clubs to score on him… We just have to see!!
