The fifth place Atlanta Silverbacks travel to ‘The Mike’ on Saturday, August 1st to take on the Indy Eleven. With 7 points from the last four matches, the Silverbacks are starting to climb off of the bottom of the Combined Table, rising to 10th on Goal Difference. This is the fourth straight away match for Atlanta and fifth of the first six matches in the Fall Season. Jaime Chavez is coming off of a brace against Edmonton which saw him earn NASL Team of the Week honors. He looks to continue that form against an Indy side that he has scored three goals against in five matches.
The new signings have bolstered the attack and the confidence of the squad is starting to grow. Look for the 3-5-2 formation to continue, which allows the midfielders time on the ball to complete more passes. Look for Steward Ceus to continue in goal after his return from a stint with Haiti in the Gold Cup. Jonathan Okafor was loaned to Arizona United for a month, so rest assured everyone will be wearing longer shorts.
Indy has lost only once at home in league play this calendar year and is just three points from a playoff spot. The Silverbacks, despite being in 10th, are just six points from a playoff spot.
Both sides will be missing a player due to Red Card suspension. Michael Mravec saw a straight red for a 72nd minute tackle against Edmonton. Indy will be without defender Eric Norales.
