ShareLast season FC Edmonton finished in 6th place in the combined table but that could all change this season. Edmonton was a hot team towards the end of last season and hopefully they could bring that to this season. What’s going to bring FC Edmonton up the table is their recent signings. They have signed players that could make a big impact on the team. Here are FC Edmonton’s new additions:
Matt Vanoekel (GK)- last season played for Minnesota United and was their number one goalkeeper there. Will probably will be the same in Edmonton. Talented goalkeeper and brings a lot of league experience to the young goalkeepers on the first team.
Johann Smith – defender that brings a lot of experience to this side. Played for England’s Bolton Wanderers and made 14 appearances for Toronto FC.
Tomas Granitto– Earned a call up in 2014 to the El Salvador team. Tomas is a talented player and adds more depth in the midfield .
Sainey Nyassi- Gambia midfielder that has some MLS experience ,and international experience with Finnish club RoPS.
Oskar Hauksson – spent most of his career playing in his home country Iceland. At the age of 30 he has decided to take his talent to FC Edmonton .
With the recent additions to the team FC Edmonton has a better squad and brings up the question “can they make it to The Championship”. The answer is yes, if they stay healthy and gel together, than they could be fighting for that 4th seed.
Exciting player to watch: Midfielder Hanson Boakai is a very fast and young player and those are two great attributes. Hanson has a bright future with FC Edmonton and with the Canadian National team . Hanson has been called up in the past to represent his country and with great success on the field with Edmonton, he might get another call from the national team coach.
This season is going to be big for FC Edmonton and their supporters because last year they finished 6th and Colin Miller has added some talented players to this squad. Can they finish higher than they did last season? Leave your comments below in the comments section.
