Indy Eleven – Atlanta Silverbacks Preview

When: 7:30 p.m ET

Where: Atlanta Silverbacks Park

Where to watch: ESPN3

Coming fresh off a 2-0 win Wednesday night on NASL Wednesday Night Soccer on ONE World Sports, the Indy Eleven are looking to repeat that performance against the Atlanta Silverbacks tonight. While the Eleven are returning to action tonight fresh of a much needed win, the Silverbacks are looking to right the ship after losing 1-0 to Jacksonville just one week ago.

The 2-0 win for the Eleven on Wednesday night was a much needed three points. With that win they climbed out of the cellar of the NASL and into 9th in the league’s Fall Season standings. A win tonight could help them find their way to 8th or possibly even 7th. (With a little help from the Carolina RailHawks and Jacksonville Armada FC.)

The Atlanta Silverbacks find themselves in a much better situation than their opponents tonight. The Silverbacks currently sit 3rd in the Fall Season standings, just behind Ottawa and Edmonton. A win tonight versus the Eleven, at home, would be enough to propel them into 2nd should Edmonton lose or draw tomorrow night against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. If things don’t pan out right for Atlanta this week then they have the opportunity to battle it out with Edmonton next week when they play them at Silverbacks Park.

Tonight’s match show cases two teams who are on opposite ends the league’s Fall Season standings. One team, the Eleven, sits just two spots from the league basement, while the other team, the Silverbacks, sits just two places from the top. Don’t be fooled though. The last time these two teams met up, on the first of this month, the Silverbacks won by only one goal in a tightly contested match.

Tonight’s match is sure to be a great one as both of these teams have plenty to play for. A late season playoff push could be in the works for Indy, there remains plenty of time to put one together. The Silverbacks are hovering around the top of the pack and could shoot up to 2nd place with a win tonight. I fully expect that both teams will leave it all on the pitch tonight.
