This Wednesday at 7:30 ET on NASL Wednesday Night Soccer on ONE World Sports the Indy Eleven will take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The Rowdies are coming fresh off a Saturday loss to their interstate rivals the Fort Lauderdale Strikers while the Eleven will be hitting the pitch well rested thanks an off week.
Indy Eleven interim head coach Tim Regan said, “The match is important for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one is simple – we haven’t won for awhile.” On July 19th in a match against the Ottawa Fury the Eleven saw their five game unbeaten streak come to an abrupt end. Since that time Indy has managed to pick up just 1 point over the course of 4 games and find themselves at the bottom of league standings for the Fall Season.
Tampa Bay finds themselves coming in the midweek match in a more favorable position than the Eleven. Although they currently sit in 9th place in league standings for the Fall Season, a win this Wednesday night could propel them to 3rd in the Combined table . Even so, the Rowdies are currently experiencing a dry spell comparable to that of the Eleven. They have won only one of their last 6 matches.
Both teams will take the pitch on NASL Wednesday Night Soccer on ONE World Sports desperately needing a win which should make for a great match. The last time these two teams met up the contest ended in a 2-2 draw thanks to a late equalizer from Indy Eleven’s Kyle Hyland.
