After three weeks off from league play, the Scorpions have made some roster changes in preparation for the crucial fall season.
The San Antonio Scorpions kick-off their 2015 NASL fall season this Sunday against FC Edmonton where they will play a familiar face. After the spring season concluded, Pablo Cruz signed with the Eddies of Edmonton. While details of the signing aren’t available, Cruz will more than likely see more playing time in Canada than he was in San Antonio. San Antonio had signed him this past off-season from Atlanta.
Last week the club announced that forward Giuseppe Gentile would be joining the team on loan from Swiss Challenge side, FC Chiasso. Gentile is not a new face to the Scorpion faithful; he was acquired by the team last summer and played a role in the team’s 2014 NASL Championship run.
The Scorpions also announced the signing of Monbo Bokar. Played at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte along with fellow “newcomer” Gentile and current Scorpion, Tyler Gibson. Bokar played mainly as a forward and some right back for the Charlotte 49ers, but played right fullback for the team’s only mid-season friendly against C.S. Cartaginés. The team expects that he will play right back during the fall campaign.
Over the weekend the media in Toronto were told by Toronto FC head coach Greg Vanney that their loan of Bright Dike to the Scorpions had ended and that he would return to Toronto. Dike scored the winning goal against the Carolina Railhawks back in early May that gave the Scorpions their first win of the season.

Vanney confirmed to media that Bright Dike’s loan with the NASL’s San Antonio Scorpions is over and he has rejoined the Reds. #TFC
There are still three days until the fall season starts so there could be more player movement, but hopefully the roster is pretty much set. The Scorpions are in need of consistency in a very inconsistent year and the movement of players on and off the team won’t help their cause for a repeat championship.
