Coming into the season nobody predicted that the Strikers would make it to the Soccer Bowl final. The Strikers clinched with the 4 seed (which is the last championship spot). The Strikers played against Minnesota United FC in the Semi-Final and came out on top in penalty kicks. The other match was the Cosmos vs. Scorpions with the Scorpions winning the match in extra time. Those games set the table for tonight’s Championship match between the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and the San Antonio Scorpions.
Fort Lauderdale Strikers: They have a talented squad that is really fast. Their manager Gunter Kronsteiner is suspended for tonight’s match because he was ejected during the semi final match last week. The Strikers have a great bench so look for key players to come off the bench to try to make their mark on the match.
Key player: Fafa Picault – He is a very fast player and look for him to get past defenders and get some shots on goal.
San Antonio Scorpions: Great squad with a lot of depth. They won the Fall season and beat the Cosmos, all that is missing is a Soccer Bowl Trophy right!? No, not so fast. They have a tough match against the Strikers.
Keys for the Scorpions to win tonight’s match:
– Defense has to be solid (has looked great all year)
– Stop Fafa
If they follow those keys to the match they will come out on top. Both teams are great, and this is going to be a great match .
