Strikers Get New Owners

On Friday (September 19 , 2014) the Fort Lauderdale Strikers were purchased by three Brazilian investors Paulo Cesso, Ricardo Geromel, and Rafael Bertani. The club held a press conference where we saw the NASL commissioner making an appearance and talking about to the ownership group and about the Strikers.

Bill Peterson the commissioner of the NASL had this to say about the new owners, “We’re very excited to welcome the new ownership group into our league. Paulo, Ricardo, Rafael, and their families are committed to building a winning franchise on the field and being a big part of Fort Lauderdale off the field. The group is extremely excited to get started and their passion for the sport is exactly what is needed to make the Strikers a long-term success.” The new ownership group wants to return the glory that the club once had.

The new ownership had this to say about their vision for the club, “We will win championships and make the South Florida community proud of its only professional soccer team”. I feel this new ownership group will increase the club’s marketing budget and show the citizens of the city that they have a pro soccer team and that it has a lot of history. Also they would pour money into them player budgets for next year, so we might see the Strikers have a very competitive side come next season. There are some issues that might be resolved while they own the club:

1. A new stadium – which they are waiting for approval and might build a stadium in a waterpark.

2. Jersey sponsor – it is not a must for a pro soccer team to have a jersey sponsor but it is ideal we saw it with the Rowdies there kits have improved, so see them add that next year.

3. Players- add some quality players , international players that improve any NASL club

So this was a great improvement for the league and for the Strikers, they will finally have owners who will want to see the team win and increase the budgets which is a very good step. We will keep you updated about the Strikers and there new owners .

If you agree , or disagree with what I said please leave a comment below and state your opinions, or views.

Shoutout to Flight 19, The Tailgate Show and all Strikers fans, congrats on your new owners and hopefully they could bring home a Soccer Bowl Trophy, and increase attendance which will not be easy but with these new owners they will be committed and will be reach success.
