The Union went a perfect 5-for-5 in penalty kicks, defeating Columbus Crew SC after drawing 1-1 in regulation at the IMG Academy Stadium.
Fernando Aristegueita found the back of the net for the Union in his second straight game, but Justin Meram lofted the equalizer over M’Bohli to draw Crew SC even in the second half in Florida.
Conor Casey had a chance to pull Philadelphia ahead in regulation when the Union were awarded a penalty midway through the second half, but a fantastic save by Lampson allowed Columbus to keep the score level.
The Union were able to pressure Crew SC in the first half, but could not take advantage of a few nice opportunities
on goal beyond Fernando’s beautiful header.
With the win, Philadelphia advances to the finals of the IMG Suncoast Pro Classic.
