Making the rounds around the league, Northern Ireland international Jamie Mulgrew has arrived in Portland to begin a trial with the team. It’s been reported that coach John Spencer expects him to be here for about a week. Mulgrew, a midfielder who last played for the Irish Premier League side, Linfield, and was the club’s 2010 player of the year was last spotted in Columbus working out for the Crew. It has been rumored that interest has been growing in the player as teams look to sign him on a free transfer at the end of the summer when his contract with Linfield runs out.
Mulgrew seems keen on making the move across the pond having been signed to the PROficient Agency which works with players based in large part in the United States including, Robbie Rogers and Kei Kamara. Jamie was last linked with Portland in February as information about the supposed Timbers DP signing was scarce to find. Back in February, several sources pointed to the fact that the Timbers were mildly interested but with the recent scoring woes could the team be contemplating bringing in another player to shake things up?
