Sounders Head to DC for First Road Game

After their first loss of the season, the Sounders will be looking to get back to winning ways against DC United, in their first road game of the season. After their last game against the San Jose Earthquakes saw them on the losing side for the first time this season, Seattle will be hoping to put that aside as they travel to RFK stadium.

Marc Burch

Last weeks game saw a dubious decision go in favor of San Jose as a controversial PK was awarded, which ended up being the match winning goal and bringing Seattle’s home run to 2-1-0. As Seattle try to pick themselves up, DC United are already flying high after a convincing 4-1 win against FC Dallas in their last game. That result must have been a relief for United fans after a rocky start, seeing them only pick up 1 point in 3 games. As one-team hopes their form doesn’t nose-dive again, the other will be hoping it ignites again, and for the Sounders, in the form of Estrada.

Another match up that will be interesting to see is the return of Marc Burch to the stadium where he spent five years at, before being told he was no longer wanted. In a recent interview Marc said, “They had the opportunity to keep me and they didn’t. I don’t believe that their left back is better than I am, but if that’s what they think, then that’s what they think,” Burch said.  “It’s time to prove that we have a much better team here and I’m excited to be here.”

Hopefully he and the rest of the team are pumped and ready to go come kick off, and that the match and the three points are the focus. The bragging rights for Burch can be left to the final whistle.
