Sporting KC Get Big Win Over Toronto FC

Sporting Kansas City got another result at home as they put together a 4 goal performance to beat Toronto FC. The win came after a stretch of 3 straight draws by Sporting in MLS play. The team looked to get back in the win column as they added their second designated player in Brazilian midfielder Jeferson. They also were coming off an uneventful draw in a midweek friendly vs. Newcastle United.

Kei Kamara celebrates a goal against Toronto FC

The scoring started with a fantastic goal from Kei Kamara, who had been in a slump the last month or so, on a bicycle kick in the 28th minute. 5 minutes later Kamara got his second of the match on a header from a Roger Espinoza cross. A few minutes later Sporting went up 3-0 as the two designated players (Jeferson to Omar Bravo) connected to get behind defense and put it past the keeper. Toronto broke the clean sheet with a goal in the 50th minute. 14 minutes of back and forth action later, Sporting put a nice combination together and Omar Bravo got his second of the match. Toronto added a second goal in the 72nd minute, but a comeback was out of reach as Sporting did well to close out the match and finish with the 3 points.

Sporting will look forward to not having a midweek game (an increasingly rare occurance), however, Omar Bravo and Matt Besler are both traveling to New York for the MLS All-Star game vs. Manchester United. I wouldn’t be a Sporting fan if I didn’t remind everybody that Sporting are the only MLS team to beat Manchester United in the history of the league.

Sporting are back in action on Saturday as they welcome the New England Revolution to Livestrong Sporting Park for the first time. Sporting will look to avenge a 3-2 loss earlier this year to the Revolution.
