Sporting KC celebrates the lone goal in a 1-0 win over San Jose

On Friday, in front of a national television audience on Fox Soccer Channel, Sporting beat San Jose 1-0 on a 31st minute goal by C.J. Sapong on a Graham Zusi free kick. The goal was the first MLS goal in the new stadium’s short history and proved to be the game winner. The match was close throughout, but Sporting got the better chances and deserved to get their first home win at the new home.

The win was Sporting’s 2nd in 5 days and showed some of the potential that the club has despite missing players due to the CONCACAF Gold Cup and injury. Sporting will look to make a quick turn around on Wednesday as they travel to Philadelphia in hopes of a 3rd straight win and running their unbeaten streak to six.
