Sporting KC Gets Trashed By DC United

Sporting Kansas City came into this DC United game looking extremely tired. They had games against Toronto (won 4-1) and in Nicaragua against Real Esteli (draw 1-1) in Champions League play. DC also had Champions League play but they were in DC and played against a weaker team so they weren’t worried about playing the starters.

I’m not going to dress it up, it looked BAD. DC United dominated Sporting, even though DC had 38% possession and Sporting didn’t have an answer. In a seven minute stretch, DC scored three times and everyone involved with SKC seemed shellshocked. On the last two goals, SKC defenders were caught flat footed and trying to catch DC offside. All three goals were just way too easy for DC and quite honestly, DC should’ve won 5-0 but a couple shots went off the post.

I don’t think I’m saying anything controversial by saying that performance was embarrassing and no one feels worse about what happened than the four defenders who were on the back line for Sporting KC. They’re probably taking it much more harder than any Sporting KC fan so that’s why I’m not hammering on them as hard as others but it’s going to be a short postseason if this becomes a trend. KC plays Houston this Friday night on NBCSN. Houston also lost 3-0 this weekend so both teams will be out to avenge their horrible defeats.
